Surge Protective Device (SPD), also known as lightning arrester, is mainly used to suppress transient overvoltage on circuits, discharge lightning induced surges and switching overcurrent, so as to protect downstream electrical and electronic equipment from breakdown and damage caused by instantaneous high voltage.

1. Lightning surge protection: Instantaneous high voltage of tens of thousands of volts generated by direct or induced lightning strikes will be quickly conducted by SPD to divert lightning current to the ground.
2. Suppression of switching overvoltage: Eliminate switching surges generated by contactors, frequency converters, motor start-stop and capacitor switching.
3. Equipotential protection: Clamp the potential of equipment enclosures and circuits to a safe level to eliminate potential difference.
4. Insulation protection: Maintain high insulation under normal operating conditions without interfering with power supply, and instantly conduct to discharge surge current when surges occur.
